FROM Billy Elliot to an Aussie tourist, Josh Denyer is showing his versatility as a dancer at the tender age of 14.

After playing the title role in Billy Elliot in Melbourne and Sydney (after other young dancers outgrew the part), Denyer is looking forward to performing in his Lindfield dance studio’s end of year production.

The Ecole Ballet and Dance Theatre will present Dances from Faraway Lands at the Shore School Theatre on December 13.

Josh, who has been studying jazz for eight years, took up ballet two years ago when he auditioned for the world-renowned musical.  “I needed to learn ballet technique and the creative team (from Billy Elliot) found that Ecole was the best to fast-track classical ballet,” the Asquith Boys High School pupil said.

“I’m looking forward to playing a traveller who visits different parts of the world – I start out in a Wallabies jersey at the airport before visiting 16 countries including China, England, Spain and Russia.

“It’s a magical, exciting journey.”
