The dreams of 10 year-old ballet star Thomas Liptrott have come true again.

Goostrey’s dancing marvel has been selected to perform in a professional production of Giselle with the award-winning English Youth Ballet (EYB), having already danced in the Nutcracker earlier this year.

In June he competed against 200 other young hopefuls to earn his place in the production which will be showing from November 9 to 10 at the Royal Northern College of Music, in Manchester.

Thomas, of Boothbed Lane, has been performing since he was seven-years-old and said it was his proud mum and dad who inspired him.

Despite long rehearsal hours and blistered toes, he is having a great time and has big ambitions.  “I really enjoy performing, I hope to be a principal dancer one day,” he said.

Thomas, who goes to Goostrey Primary, and the other young dancers in the cast will be dancing alongside international artists and experience the life of a professional ballet dancer.

He will work at Stretford Grammar School in an 11-day intensive rehearsal process which will certainly keep him on his toes.

Ben Garner, company manager, said: “Working with English Youth Ballet will most probably be the highlight of these talented young dancer’s careers, to date.”

The production will see top international artists – including dancers from the National Ballet of Portugal and Ballet de Toulouse – share the stage with the best up-and-coming young talent from their region. Giselle is a well-loved classical ballet; a dramatic love story that combines romance with deception, tragedy with revenge.

The choreography, created by Janet Lewis MBE, is faithful to the well-loved original version and complements Adolphe Adam’s musical score from 1841.

Giselle opens at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, for three performances only on Wednesday, November 9 at 7.30pm and Thursday, November 10 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. For tickets call 0161 907 5555 or visit ncm.ac.uk.
