Middlebrook School sixth grader, [Jeremy Wong] will dance this holiday season in the New York City Ballet production of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. He will dance in the featured role of the Prince and Nutcracker and will perform in 24 of the 48 performances at Lincoln Center in New York City from Nov. 26 through Dec. 31.

While remaining in the Wilton public schools, Jeremy began ballet study in 2007 at the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet and attends ballet class four days a week for an hour and a half each. Now with Nutcracker, he practices an additional six to eight hours each week. Jeremy’s teachers at the school have included former and current New York City Ballet principals Lisa di Ribere, Darci Kistler, Garielle Whittle, Philip Neal, Jonathan Stafford, Dena Abergel, Arch Higgins and Jock Soto.

Jeremy has appeared in New York City Ballet productions of Firebird, Swan Lake and in previous Nutcrackers at Lincoln Center. He has been on stage with Mary Elizabeth Sell, a former Wiltonian, now with the ballet.

With summers off from academic work, Jeremy keeps it going. This past summer he danced at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in The Magic Flute, also with New York City Ballet. He then performed as Oliver in Musicals at Richter’s production of Oliver in Danbury.

In previous summers Jeremy performed with Summer Theater of New Canaan in productions of Camelot and Big River.

Before attending the School of American Ballet, Jeremy danced at Walter Schalk School of Dance with Amber Corriston, Wilton Dance Studio with Brenda Froehlich, and notably Pamela Giardino, an SAB alumnus as well, who now teaches at Flash Pointe Dance Station in Fairfield.
